Sometimes looking back is the best way forward

In Filmmaker Michael Charron’s absolutely delightful short LOOKING BACK, George gets more than he bargained for when he discovers a ghost living in the backup camera of his new car. From the Director, “Our film was an attempt at making a genre bending film. One that takes you on a journey through drama, horror and comedy and you see a full and complete story in under 9 minutes. The idea was conceived as a horror film but in the process of creating it we moved to a more fun and sweet tone and I think it tackles it all well.” And yes, we search far and wide for great reviews of our unparalleled selections, but the best one came from one of our own valued judges, “The short’s uncanny revision of a familiar kind of plot line was very clever and charming. Rather than mourn a lost child, the protagonist gets to celebrate a child never had throughout her childhood. It’s a heartwarming anti-horror dramedy. This finishes just outside the top 3 for me, and I wish I could make room for it. My head was tilted in interest once it really got going, all the way to the end. Curious and novel.” Completely offbeat, goofily sweet, and adorably charming, the must-see LOOKING BACK will screen at this year’s NEVERMORE 2023 at the Carolina Theatre in Downtown Durham, NC!
